Dixie vs. Humble

Two of my "Dixie" pieces are being presented along side 20 other artists' work at the Humble Arts Foundation's "Group Show". Humble is the force behind Group-Show.com. They have recently revamped their image and site and started Solo Show, an online exhibit similar to the look and feel of group-show.com. You can find all this and other great projects, along with info on the show I'm in, at humbleartsfoundation.org.

The show is taking place at New Century Artists, 530 West 25th st. (btwn 9th and 10th?). The show opens on March 13th but the opening reception will be on Thursday, March 15th at 6pm. DO IT!

Warning: Dixie while most likely kill you or bite off your balls if you do not show up to this event. Serial.

Artist of the week - Thomas Allen

Jackpot, 2006 Copyright Thomas Allen

I was introduced to Thomas Allen's work just a few years ago. It really blew me away. I was just getting into the Pony Boy stuff and was very interested in commercial-art being manipulated into fine-art.

The Dixie Cycle

This is just one of the many times Dixie has gone through her own personal hell.

I promise, she's just sleeping little girl.

Have You Seen My Dynamite Mr. Gore?

Alfred Nobel 1833-1896

Alfred Nobel was a Swedish chemist, engineer and most importantly he was the inventor of DYNAMITE! Ironically, the Nobel Peace Prize is named for him. About a year before his death a French newspaper started to make Mr. Nobel feel a little guilty for creating such a loud toy. Because he wanted to be remembered for something other then the destruction of mankind, he left the bulk of his fortune to create the Nobel Prizes (6 in all).

It was announced today that one of my favorite people and the next President of the United States was nominated for the Nobel Peace Price; Mr. Al Gore!

Al Gore (Vietnam)

There are so many amazing things about Al Gore, here are just a few. He was instrumental in bringing the World Wide Web into every home in America (the information superhighway campaign), he chartered two jets days after Hurricane Katrina and evacuated 207 people, he has been very vocal about the mistakes and even laws that have been broken by Bush and his administration, he has written 2 books regarding the environment, he recently starred in the 3rd top grossing Documentary of all time, he roomed with Tommy Lee Jones at Harvard, He enlisted in Vietnam even though he opposed the war, he won the popular vote, he loves me, he said no to Iraq when every one else said yes (minus Barack and a few others), As a child he split time between working on his fathers tobacco farm in Tennessee and living in a hotel room in Washington DC, he was part of the funniest SNL skit of the last 15 years (not available online), he was part of the second funniest SNL skit in the last 15 years, he said NO to the war! The list goes on and on.

His 3rd book, The Assault on Reason, will be available in May. Man he comes up with great titles! If you haven't yet seen An Inconvenient Truth pick it up, all the proceeds for the movie and the book go to funding renewable energy. If you enjoyed the movie definitely get the book, it's amazing.

If you cannot tell, I am in love with this guy. Super serial guys, serial.

Update: Another good Al Gore-South Park clip!

UPDATE: Viacom has ordered YouTube to remove 100,000 clips of there programming. No more brilliant South-Park-making-fun-of-Al-Gore clips.
